So I've been thinking and I have a question. If a question you can call it. It is more of an observation with a why statement attached. A musing really. So here goes.

Why aren't Christians more spiritual beings?

Why aren't we more aware of what is going on around us? Why do we think that being in touch with our spiritual being is weird.

Even "charismatic" Christians who speak in toungs and dance around and cry in church and appear so spiritual, are not very spiritual outside of the 4 wall of their church building. We seem to often limit spirituality to what we do at church meetings not what is just our life.

Why do we think that meditation is weird, even wrong, or just not for us? I think our perspective is all off. I mean seriously even Buddhists and new age people are considered more spiritual than Christians. And they do not even have the Spirit of spirits, the Spirit of the Living God.
The Living breath of our holy creator GOD.

Maybe we should be more aware of this?
Maybe we should be more spiritual people?

Just a thought.

what did you think of the tibetan's "spirituality"?

did some of their actions/traditions interest or impress you? or maybe make you wish we, as christians, had things going on that were similar?

i don't mean this in jest or trying to "trick you into tibetan buddhism"! but an honest question about the way we interpret and apply biblical spirituality in our life.

the question I am posting is an honest one. Maybe the comparison is not clear. I do not wish that we were more like buddhists, that is for sure. my quesion is one of perspective and lifestyle. Why for one are they considered by the world as spiritual, and we not.

maybe it is all about perspective. but I know that I for one do not walk the the power of the Holy Spirit as much as I desire to. I am not as aware of the spiritual picture that is constantly changing around me. I do not always see with the discernment I wish I would see with. I know the Spirit of the living God resides within me, so why am I not more conscious of its presence, and more attentive to walking in it in my everyday life.

So as I said the comparison is not exactly a good one, and it is not ment to say that we should be like buddhists at all!
it's a little off topic...
it is simply a matter of worldly perspective. and how I see it.

The thought is still developing.. that is why I posted it, I want to know others thoughts on the matter.
others perspectives.

i've kind of abandoned the spiritual aspect in my own life. I tend to go from one extreme to the other, first hyper-spiritual then hyper-practical. But even though I've kind of let it slip out of my daily living, I can still feel the Holy Spirit working in me and around me even when I'm not expecting it. It's kind of awesome how God does that, pushes the boundaries and such.

i'm glad you're blogging more. :)

you know something funny, nikki, when i made my first comment, i didn't look closely at who's blog this was in the reader. i assumed it was one of my student's blogs because of a conversation we had with similar content a few days prior.

so, if my original comment about "Tibetan Spirituality" sounds funny... well, that's why!

my bad.

but seriously, those are good thoughts. keep it up!
